Macy and I have spent 3 weeks teaching our Sunbeams that each of our bodies have a spirit and that is what makes us alive. The Lord has better ways to teach us than just mere words. It is often the littlest and most imperfect bodies that teach me that it is not the body that makes a person live.

The strongest of spirits can be housed in the littlest body, and without ever saying a word, I was taught courage, strength, perseverance, and humility. It takes just one lesson for me to see that bodies will yield to spirits, not just spirits yielding to the body. It takes one brave example to help us glimpse heaven in ways we haven't seen before.

After all it is by small and simple things that great things are brought to pass.

Isn't that right? Haven't I heard that before? I just didn't expect the smallest to teach me such great lessons. I am so thankful that it is our spirit that makes us alive and not our bodies.

Dad) or we got in for free (A.K.A. University of Utah sporting events). This season however we have become something else entirely, season ticket holders. Ok we are not real true season ticket holders because we are splitting the season with another guy, but we own half of the games to the Utah Jazz this season. 41 games is a lot of games to make, but 20? 20 is perfect for Mac and I this season. Our seats are actually some of the best in the house in my opinion. We have a wall behind us so we both can stand the whole game and stand we do. We have already made some "fan friends" that cheer with us, and yell loud so the players might have a chance to hear us from where we are. It pretty much is heaven, and so far it has been one of the greatest seasons to be at the games. Remember this?
We were there.

We actually have been at all of their home wins, which is nice. Vegas has us at 26 wins again and I think we will beat that...but just barely. More importantly the Jazz are so much fun to watch this season. We have been having so much fun.

Easton is a good little soccer player, and he love's to do it. Most of the time when we are together at my parents house Easton and I will always end up playing one on one soccer or football. We have done soccer many times and so I know he is good.

Yesterday at his soccer game I was watching him and he was doing so good. He runs hard, and plays hard and does a good job. And when he was on defense the other team did not score a goal on him. I was super proud of him. I noticed something else that Easton was really good at while I was at the soccer game.

Flash back to our backyard soccer games... whenever East and I play soccer I am always pushing him when he has the ball. Not hard shoves but I just get close and bump him and make it hard for him to dribble and score. Whenever I have the ball I am always bumping him and moving him because other wise he steals the ball from me so fast which I don't want to happen either.

Now Fast Forward to yesterday's soccer game, I noticed that Easton is especially adept at bumping, small body shoves, and staying close to his man on defense. This is part of the reason he is so good on defense. He may be small but he is not afraid to get in there and mix it up with the other bigger kids. Who would have known that he learned those things from me. As soon as I saw them though I knew exactly where he got them. Needless to say I was one proud uncle.

Easton is definitely mine and Mace's little buddy and we love our Easton time. He is quite the Utah Utes, and Utah Jazz fan too. In fact the Utes and Jazz have never lost when I was watching the game with him somewhere. He came this year to a Home Utes game which they won, last year to a home Utes game which they won, and we took him to a Utah Jazz home game last year which they won. We also watched the UCLA vs. Utah game on conference weekend, and Easton stayed up for the whole thing...and the Utes won! I call him my little good luck charm. Josh, just Joshhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10243165825517649606noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7545475677973417506.post-83512996648005228962014-07-31T08:31:00.000-07:002014-07-31T08:31:56.451-07:00SCLI have been watching some baseball lately. Or at least paying more attention to baseball lately. And I know exactly what that means...it's almost football season.

I have pinned my hopes of winning a fantasy football league for the past 10 years of my life on one team, which is the Denver Broncos. For the past 10 years I have not won a fantasy football league. For that matter I have never won a fantasy football league. I think one year I got like 3rd or 4th. But that is besides the point. For the past 2 maybe 3 season I have not even made the playoffs.

So here is my dilemma. I am not sure where to set my goal, and therefore I have no idea how to form my strategy for the team that I will be picking in less than a months time! See the things is 2 years ago I only won, 1 measly game. A single game. It was atrocious. See but last year I won 4! Same strategy it's just that the Broncos got a lot better. And that is my problem. It was a lot more fun to win 4 games than just 1. So my problem is do I keep on with my same strategy and think i'll make the playoffs this year because I think the Broncos will be better? Or do I go out on a total limb and choose a bunch of players that I have little to no interest in and hope that they get me to the playoffs...

It is a little like should I abandon the ship that i'm on, after they almost got me to the shore last time, and go with a new boat? I am not worried about making it to the top of the mountain. I just want to ride out the storm, and make it to the shore. I'll leave the top of the mountain to someone else. Another part of me thinks wouldn't it be so much better to make it to the shore with a team that I can route for every week anyway? But the worst part is, what if my boat sinks again. Which could possibly happen, it has happened the last two years.

My last dilemma is this, if it get's to my turn to draft and Peyton Manning is still there do I take him? Last year, is the only time he was not there and it actually made my life so much easier. For some obscure reason that I can not pin point, I have this incredible complex that I feel like I have to draft Peyton Manning. Even when he played for the Colts I just could not pass him up. Then he get's traded to the Broncos and the clouds opened, I finally could draft Peyton Manning guilt free. But now the question is do I? I'll let you in on a little secret, one of my greatest fears is having the first pick of the draft because I know for a fact that Peyton will be there, and he has about .000001% chance of being there when the pick gets back around to me at 20. So do I take him with the first pick of the draft? The pressure is already mounting.

This year we have a new league. We have elected new officials, with a new name, and a new people. It's a true new beginning. But does that mean I have to have a new beginning with my team? Is this the year that I finally make it to the shore? Only time will tell. Fanatic (noun): marked by excessive enthusiasm and often intense uncritical devotion

Today as I was listening to Locked on Jazz with David Locke (My favorite way to get my daily fill of the Jazz) David Locke said something that I wanted to highlight that I think it is so true. The link is here and it starts at 23:05 if you would like to listen for yourself.

Utah Jazz fans for a long time around the NBA world have been known as the loudest fans. Even the Jazz Bear holds up a sign at the games saying "Prove we are the loudest fans" during timeouts in the fourth quarter. The ESA can get up on any given night for any given game making it one of the most intimidating places to play for opposing teams. You know it is official when Wikipedia devotes a paragraph to our noise on it's Energy Solution Arena page.

From Wikipedia--
"The EnergySolutions Arena is well known for being one of the hardest
places to play for visiting teams in the NBA. According to an NBA
Players Poll taken by Sports Illustrated
on February 11, 2008, the ESA is considered "the most intimidating
arena in the NBA" with 20% of the vote made up of 240 current NBA
players.[15] Many commentators referred to the arena as the "Decibel Center", a play on the name "Delta Center". During Game 5 of the 1997 NBA Finals,
a decibel meter installed at floor level had readings of over 110
decibels, close to the noise generated by a jet takeoff. Also, during
the 1997 NBA Finals, Hannah Storm of NBC called the then-named Delta Center "one of the loudest places in sports"[16]"

Another point we ought to hit on is the fact that players love to play here because we as fans route for them on and off the court. Over the years we have had to many mentions to count of players expressing appreciation and gratitude for the fans here in Salt Lake. So many times we have been called the "best fans in the NBA". When we truly love our players simply because they are "ours" it makes Salt Lake a truly special place to play.

Now to my point. Over the years of my being a Jazz fan I have noticed a shift in us as fans. We have stepped away from our true role as fans and become analytic's, and crytic's of the team and players we love. One characteristic of the Jazz organization is that everyone works hard and does their own job. Coach's coach, players play, and the fans cheer.

It seems that recently every Jazz "fan" has a better idea of what to do with the team than the people who are actually running the team. We tend to hear a lot of this player needs to play more, the reason we are losing is because of this coach, our star player needs to carry more of the load. We have gotten away from being true Jazz fans. We feel like if the team is playing poorly it entitles us to care less.

Being the best fans in the NBA comes with a price, and the price is being actual fans.

Any player that dawns a Utah Jazz uniform ought to be cheered for with gusto. It should not matter if that players name is John Stockton, Jeff Hornacek, Karl Malone, Mehmet Okur, Raul Lopez, Gordon Giricek, Carlos Boozer, Andrei Kirilenko, Deron Williams, Gordon Hayward, or Trey Burke. As a fan we should have our players backs on and off the court. It is us as fans that make the ESA a "great and terrible" place to play. Great for us and terrible for other teams. The team that the Jazz put on the court should make no difference to how we act as fans.

A Jazz fan boos loudly as the other team is introduced. A Jazz fan yells and cheers for every point we score. A Jazz fan dances crazy during the timeouts. A Jazz Fan boos the refs for a call against us whether it was right or not. A Jazz fan thinks the Jazz Bear is the best mascot in the NBA. Those are the things that make us Jazz fans. It is not the players that are put on the court or the win loss record at the end of the season. We are Jazz fans because we love the Utah Jazz.

I feel like it is way past time for Jazz fans to get back to doing what we do best and that is being Jazz fans. Listen to the analysis, the pre and post game interviews. Research the statistics, and the details of the game. But love the Jazz. Find a way to get into all of that without losing sight of what our job is. We as fans can make this a place that players want to come and stay. We as fans can make the ESA the best place to play in the NBA.

Check fraud has been increasing over the past century as a result of improvements in technology, and an increased amount of greed among people. Check Fraud falls under a larger umbrella category of money scams according to the United States Government. Checks are printed, or forged by these criminals with various different business account numbers for any amount of different sums of money. These checks are then taken and cashed at a local bank or convenience store while the business foots the bill.

The Zions bank employees were alerted to a potential stolen business account just minutes before one of these stolen business checks appeared in the drawer at the drive up.

"It was scary!" one Zions bank teller said of the incident. However she kept her cool alerted her boss, who informed the authorities of the situation on hand.

"I tried to stall them until the police came, but there is only so much you can do before they start to wonder what is going on." the bank teller said.

The individuals in question left the bank drive up before the police arrived. The businesses however, I am sure, are very grateful for one bank teller who was simply doing her job, as she puts it.

Check fraud costs businesses and consumers lot's of money every year.Josh, just Joshhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10243165825517649606noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7545475677973417506.post-68371047448017395452014-02-14T08:36:00.000-08:002014-02-14T08:36:36.064-08:00Evolution

I hear on occasion that we are in a "war" or a "battle" with Satan. I believe that this is true. I believe that Satan is battling every day over as many souls as he can get. He is a miserable little puke and all he wants is to drag as many down as he can. The saying misery loves company is never truer than with the great devil himself.

So back to my scripture study, I like to do this thing and I call it game film on Lucifer. Every great team that are champions study game film on their opponents. They study their tendencies, weaknesses, and strengths in order to gain an advantage. Once again I believe that Satan has watched eons of game film on us and there is a good chance he has watched game film on you personally. He knows our tendencies, weaknesses, and strengths and he works to exploit them. And as much as a little puke he is, he is good at what he does. So it's only fair and only makes sense to study a little film on him. Learn his tendencies, his strengths, his old fall backs, and even his weaknesses so that we can know what play he might run next.

So I thought that I might share one little tendency that I saw on film today. In Sunday school we were reading a few verses on Satan and we were talking about putting on the armor of God. Those are great verses. They are read often by Mormons and Christians, and I think Satan knows them by heart, well if he had one, but he doesn't. So he can't know them by heart but he probably still knows them. I think it is interesting to note that there is no mention made of back armor. Every good soldier knows that back armor is not as important as long as someone has your back. I think that Satan has also noticed that. With that in mind I would like to make an observation on one of Satans plays that he tries to run all the time. Satan wants everyone to feel as if they are alone. That no one has their back. He wants every person that lives on the planet to feel as if no one understands them. He wants them to feel cold, and separated. He wants them to feel as if they are alone.

I wanted to take a moment to blog this because it is an answer I wanted to share but I didn't. I think it's important to note that Satan wants all of us to feel like we are the only ones trying to live the law of chastity and keep ourselves morally clean. He wants us to feel like we are the only ones reading our scriptures at night. Satan wants us to feel like we are the only ones trying to be a good example. He wants us to think that we are the only ones that have rough days. The truth is that we are never alone. By looking around at church we can realize we are not alone. By talking with friends we can know we are not alone. By spending time with family we realize we are not alone. And in the event we truly feel no one else can help us, the Savior personally knows what you are going through and how to help. That is the power of the atonement, that no matter what spot we may hit in life we are never alone. And in this there is really strength in numbers. We have the best to cover our back.

"And
when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth,
behold, an host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And
his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! how shall we do?

And Elisha prayed, and said, Lord, I pray thee, open his aeyes, that he may see.

So here's to never being alone. Take that Satan!

The Utah Jazz always are. It's me that i'm worried about. Don't worry I think i'll make it too. I mean we remember 26-56 right? We remember Carlos Arroyo, Raul Lopez, Kris Humphries, and Gordon Giricek right? And the thing is I like this team a ton better than I like any of those guys so that makes it better. The point is the Jazz have been through some rough seasons, and they will go through some more rough seasons. It's like I have been saying this past week, it's easy to love the idea of rebuilding in the off season. But to stick to it, and carry it through that is what makes it tough.

The thing is I like this Jazz team. I think they are good and I don't even really mind that they are 0-4. I like the effort, and I have liked the play so far. All this is even before Trey Burke hits the floor for his first regular season NBA appearance. That is the biggest gaping hole that is noticable on this team. I like the pieces we have. I like our starting five, including Richard Jefferson. I like Alec Burks off the bench, and I think he will continue to thrive in that role.

As a fan I try to be just that, a FANatic. I try not to voice what I think the team ought to do, because it's like listening to the dog bark, no one wants to hear it. So all I will say is this, I sure hope that Trey Burke is awesome. I don't mean that I hope he is awesome the instant he steps on the floor because I know that won't happen. He is a 20 year old out of Michigan. He will make mistakes, miss shots, and have turnovers. No I don't want him to be awesome from day one. I want him to be awesome at game 53 after he learned from earlier turnovers. I want him to be awesome in years to come hitting 50% of his shots and assisting 8 times a game. I want him to be the type of point guard our young guys need. I will also say this, good NBA teams have good point guards. There are no if's ands or buts about it. Good teams have good point guards, or people that can play the point guard position and direct an offense, hit open guys, and hit open shots. The Jazz lack solid point guard play through the first four games of this season and it shows. But I think it will get better. I think that is all I will say about that.

So the whole point of this is just to say that we will make it through this season no matter what happens. 82 games in and 82 games out. I'll be there, and i'll be here in April too...still wearing my Jazz shirts i'm sure. So as always Go Jazz!

November is one of my favorite months. Seriously it is. First of all I love the fall in general, and the last two falls have been absolutely awesome. A nice long few weeks to a month of 60-75 degree weather while the leaves are changing, the days are getting shorter. It is a great time of year. Now to November specifically I am not sure why exactly I love it so much. I always have though. November just always bring a smile to my face, so as I reflect on November and all of it's goodness I try to make sense of why I love it so much and here are a few things that make it good

-Football season is in full swing
-Weather getting colder
-Thanksgiving
-With Thanksgiving the beginning of "the holidays"
-Sweats
-Jazz basketball season
-World series just ended
-Snow!!
-Ski season starts
-Leaves falling off the trees

Like I said that is only a few of the things that make November truly magical. But I still am not sure that it is those things that make me love it so much. Maybe if all of those things did not happen I would still love the month of November as much. I can't be quite sure to be honest. But all of those things help to enhance November. So happy November to all and to all a happy November.
I will say this, there is a reason that the state of Wyoming's symbol is a bucking horse and rider. Let me also say this, I absolutely loved it there. For anyone like me, who doesn't know anything about Wyoming I thought I would put a few facts about Wyoming-

State Dinosaur: Triceratops (That is neat)
State Sport: Rodeo (also neat)
State Capitol: Cheyenne
Number of counties: 23
State income tax per individual: 0% (That is right no state income tax)
Coal Production: 395.5 million tons, the most of any state in the U.S.
Mormons: 11% of total population
National Parks: 2, Yellowstone National Park and Grand Teton National Park
Population: 576,412 The least populous state in the Union
Lowest recorded Temperature: -66 degrees F

For Fall Break Macy and I went to Wyoming to spend some time with Family and Friends. We were in Afton and Big Piney. It is a short 3 hour drive from both of those towns to Salt Lake City. It is about a 2 hour drive from Afton to Big Piney. The Landscape is incredibly beautiful. Well at least it was while we there. It was also already starting to snow in both of those towns while we were there. Wyoming is not for the faint hearted, and the people are as tough as the landscape is. They have cold hands but some of the warmest hearts. You just gotta love the great state of Wyoming.
Adventure is always in the making... new homes, new decorations, new
places, new classes, new desires, new experiences, new foods, new
drives, new hotels, new programs, new buildings, new mountains, new
lakes, new bugs, new bears, and new cars. Basically I feel I am always
on one big adventure. Luckily I get the feeling in my heart that I have
known these people for more than an eternity...literally. So it makes the adventures fun. Welcome to the brotherhood/herd/(Most important)family Karen. We are so happy that Alvin got such a great girl.

I am so at peace with how my life has been, is, and will be for the upcoming year. I am so comfortable and happy about what has been going on.

I love the track I am on for school. I have one more year left at my favorite University that I have attended. I am so glad that I have been a Utah fan literally since I was born because I love that University. I have loved my classes and my professors. I love the campus, and I love the opprotunities that the U has given me to move forward.

I love Salt Lake City. Of all the cities I have visited and been to there is nothing quite like Salt Lake. Nestled in the mountains, every day from our house I can look from mountain range to mountain range. I love the trax line, and the people I meet and talk to on trax. I love being so close to downtown and living in the Salt Lake Temple district. I absolutely love Salt Lake City.

I have loved working in a lab doing science experiments, real science experiments, on a protein that is found inside every one of our bodies. I have loved to learn more about the Golgi apparatus than I ever thought I could. I have loved to learn about the consequences of not having these types of proteins in your body. The diseases that incur and the problems that will arise.
I love that I found a new job that is going to fit right in with what I hope to be doing in the next few years as a physical therapist aide. I have loved doing exercises and working with patients who come into the clinic. I love to learn about the human body, and the magnificent creation that it truly is.
I love my calling in the Garden Park ward. I love to work with the youth, and am amazed at how they show me what I should be doing every week. I love how involved and proactive they are in the gospel. Also I love our church building, (if you haven't seen it you need to) Every week I walk in I think this is where I get to go to church?!

I love that my days have been filled with family and people that I love. We have such good friends and they are such a part of us. I love when Macy and I get to hang out with probably my favorite people in the whole world, our nieces and nephews and we got to do that a lot this weekend.

(All of the sudden when you can tell people you have been married over a year, you have more authority just because of that fact and people are less apt to bring up a newly wed joke.) I love that we have had so many adventures this past winter and that we have so many adventures planned for this summer. I love to have a buddy for adventures. We share all of them and it is so fun.

As anyone who reads this can see there is a lot of love in my heart for the blessings that I have been given so freely. Life can be so peaceful, among so much bad. The older I get the more I realize that happy lives come from good friends, good family, service, and good times.

P.S. I love the warmer weather because I am ready for some frisbee.

P.S.S. I love Bear Lake! 79 more days. I love the cousin Sethie has a countdown just like me!
Yesterday was just as nice as Friday. I love the winter. I love the snow. I love to shovel the snow off my driveway. I love how quiet it gets during a snow storm. I love warming up after spending all day outside in the winter. I love to read, and watch movies in my sweats. I love watching people try to drive up 1300 South during a snow storm. I love building snowmen with Macy. I also like throwing snowballs at Mac. I love to ski and everything that entails. I love
So my thought about Freedom is this--The freedoms in the world that are actually worth anything actually take a tremendous amount of dedication and hard work. For example-

How long did a person practice piano to play Claire De Lune? A long time.
So basically I put pictures on my computer from the past 6 months or so and there were so many that made me smile I thought I should just share them. I have never done an "as of late" post and I don't really feel like starting today, so I think this is just a "fun pictures that make me smile from the last 6 months" post.
So glad that I heard some elementary kids sing this song before Christmas this year. Now I am definitely ready and excited for Christmas. I don't know why people like Josh Groban don't sing this song and put it on their Christmas CD's. They should. Maybe I should call in a personal favor to Mack Wilberg. I wonder if the Mo Tab would do it...it would be awesome.

Yes I know, just because it was that awesome. It has been a long time coming, I have just been swamped with school, work, and life. So here are the lessons, readers digest version.

1) Milking cows and 2) Driving tractors are totally underrated! When was the last time you heard someone raving about either one of those two things? Honestly take one minute and think about the last time you heard someone say MILKING A COW IS THE GREATEST THING EVER! Go ahead think about it...............

That is what I thought. So let me be the first. While I wouldn't say it with so much enthusiasm, and I don't know if I would use those exact words "greatest thing ever", I will say that more people should be talking about how fun milking cows and driving tractors really are. Honestly, i'm being serious. If you ever get the chance to do either one, do it. Don't ask questions, and don't think about it for too long before the farmer changes their mind. Just say "yes I would love to do either one of those things." It will put a smile on your face. Honestly, i'm just sayin'.
I would also say that I have only recently learned that thing, or maybe two things if I am lucky, while working at Wheeler Farm in the pumpkin patch.

Yes that is right. For anyone out there who didn't know I work at Wheeler Farm, I do. I have worked there for about 4 weeks and have about a week too go. Every year since I returned home from my mission I have applied to work over at Wheeler, and every year they have called me in early September to see if I could work. I have never been able to up to this point because of previous conflicts. I was just to busy at those times with school, work, friends and the like. This year I was not going to let that happen again. I called them, and I got in.

I talked to Macy and she said I could go work at the farm. She also said that if I was going to work there she would be coming, otherwise she would not be seeing me for the entire month of October. I am sure grateful she came and did it with me. It makes the stories and the fun so much more enjoyable. Also I think she was a little right in saying that she would never have seen me. It wouldn't be never, but we would see each other just for a little bit every day.

So for this month, and this month only Wheeler Farm does Pumpkin days, where families mostly with little kids, come and go through a hay maze, go on a wagon ride, and finally pick a pumpkin out of the patch. So here we are back at Pumpkins.

Yesterday I was on the pumpkin patch with Macy, again, where we continued to make our observations about the best pumpkins. As we are wandering around the patch we will hear Parents talking to their Kids about which pumpkin to pick. That one is to short, that one is too heavy and you can't carry it, that one has green on it, etc. The one thing I have learned is that everyone judges their pumpkins entirely differently. If you are a little boy between the ages of 8-15 all that matters is that you get the biggest one in the family. If you are a little girl between the ages of 3-10, you want the one that is closest to you that is as close to perfectly round as a pumpkin can get. And if you are just a little girl or boy below the age of 3 or 4 you just want the first one you can get your hands on that your parents will let you take. If you are a Mom you are most worried with just getting the pumpkins to the car, and that you don't have to carry them all.

In all of this opinion there are a few over riding principles that I thought I would let everyone in on, so you do not show up to your Halloween party this year with a pumpkin that is not socially desirable saving you and everyone else at the party a lot of embarrassment.

1- If the pumpkin is green it is not healthy
Here is a little trick, pumpkins that are green are in fact healthy. You will probably actually be able to keep it longer as a green pumpkin is still ripening! Pumpkins grow green and turn orange as they ripen. So keep that in mind, if you are buying your pumpkin for a party in two weeks, you can probably be safe to buy a green one, and just set it in the sun. When you show up your pumpkin will be fresh.

2-Size is of utmost importance
For Boys- There is something about a big pumpkin that says you are a real man. Maybe its the fact that you had to carry it to the car proving the size of your muscles, i'm not to sure on this one, but just take my word for it
For Girls- Less pressure here. Small pumpkins are cute and I have not heard one girl being ridiculed for the size of their pumpkin.

3- No stem, No go
If the pumpkin has no stem is is undesirable. If you show up to your party with a pumpkin with no stem, that means you didn't get a very good pumpkin despite the other characteristics of the pumpkin. The only stipulation is for boys and the size of the pumpkin. (Refer to 2) Boys if it's a monster pumpkin with no stem, just make sure the people at your party know that was the biggest one in the patch.

4- Round pumpkins are picked more
If your pumpkin has a flat side make sure you know what to do with that side. Either carve on it, or be planning to face it away. Flat sides at times are undesirable.

And here is a picture just in case you already have small pumpkins with no stems. Do this, and say you planned it all along. People will not know what to do with your creativity.

Power "I"!Spike: Look, you berzerko Barbie doll, when you mess with Spike, you mess with death.
Becky O'Shea: You can talk the talk but can you walk the walk?
Spike: Try me!
Becky O'Shea: I will!
Spike: Let's go!
Becky O'Shea: Right now!
Jake Berman: SOMEBODY CALL 911!

--Little Giants
If I were to run an offense it would be the power I. That is what I have finally concluded after so much thought and debate in my own head over the subject. If there was ever an offense to run it is the power eye. That is the offense I will run if ever a coach. It's easy to teach, with lot's of variability. You can run the same play out of about 5 formations, pass to set up the run, run to set up the pass, keep your opponent on their heels, and win games.

When I was in little league this is the offense we ran. It was a good offense and someday if I ever get the chance it will be the offense I run.
Firstly I needed to take the time to recognize a commencment into a new stage of life.

Macy is graduating hair school! I know, I know, I can just hear Macy telling me "Josh it is not a big deal!" But you know what, it is a big deal. My sister Collie went to hair school so you would think I had some idea about how tough it actually is, however I must have forgotten how long and grueling hair school actually is because I am once again deeply impressed by these girls ability to finish through and finish strong. There are a few requirements you have to fulfill in order to graduate from hair school and they are as follows

1) a)-- Finish 2,000 hours in the school cutting hair and learning to cut hair! First of all that is a lot of time. 30 hours a week for 78 weeks to be precise. It has taken Mace a long time but she is doing it and she is doing awesome. (Who would have though there would be that much to learn about hair too, but there is. Just ask, there is a lot to know)

5d)-- Have good enough grades to be eligible to graduate. I think Macy
is a straight A student!

b)-- Pass your two state boards which are very strict and tough to pass. When I was reviewing the book that Macy got to study with I was suprised at how much general chemistry she was expected to know. Things that I learn in Gem Chem 2 she could tell me and it was fun because I had no idea she knew so much about pH, and compounds.

I can't think of the other ones right now, but i'm sure there is one or two things I am forgetting. But anyway just wanted to send a shout out to Mace because she is doing awesome and i'm proud of her.

Oh and P, just so you know once she is graduated she can still cut hair. Except better because now you can have a real friend and family discount. Just sayin'...

Next up, next up. Now I wish I could say that I had put in all my
work to be able to be graduating but I haven't. But I can say that I
now have, and will have another check mark on my Life's to do list.

I
ran a triathlon. Now I say I do have but will have the check because I
only have it halfway completed. On June 2, 2012 I completed the Salem
Springs triathlon. It was so much fun and I really did enjoy it.
(Weird I know) I competed in the Tri, with my sister Collie who swam,
biked, and ran with a broken arm. She is awesome. But we did great and
I am so happy. Now for the rest of the check mark, in approximately 4
days, I will be in Burley Idaho to finish a full olympic triathlon.
Which is about a mile swim, 30 K bike, and 10 K run. It has been a long
time coming and I have been training for it since January. It is
actually quite time consuming, and I will be happy to have done it. I
really like to compete and it's fun to be out there pushing myself in
new ways that I have always wanted to try.

It will
also be fun because the whole family is going to be up there supporting
us in Burley. So who knows what Idaho will through at me, but bring it
on SPUDMAN!
So I guess all around we could call this a commencement. On to bigger and brighter things.

I work on the 5th floor of my building. Technically it is really the 6th floor, because there is a floor A, then it starts with the actual floors 1, 2, 3, 4, and finally 5. I take the B elevators to the fifth floor most days. I say most because some days I take the stairs because I remember a comment made to me one time by a friends Dad that elevators were just a waste of energy. But on days that I can't seem to muster up the energy to walk those flights of stairs I take the elevator and boy am I grateful for it.

On the elevator there is a certain heirarchy of importance. You see as you step on the elevator at work you never want to be the one to be riding the shortest distance. I can always take a certain pride in punching the 5 button because that means I am more entitled to the elevator than the person riding to the 3rd floor. Those 4th floor kids, they have a lot pride when they step in and hit the 4 because they know just how difficult it is for them to be beat, unfortanately for them it can be done and I do it often.

Today's post though goes out to the one floor rider. One measley floor. Come on we have all done it. You just can't bring yourself to the stairs that day because you are too tired. So you just think i'll just hop on the elevator. I know i've been there. And i'll definitely be there again. Probably this week for that matter, maybe.

The other day there was a guy who got on the elevator holding a lot of stuff. I was headed down from the fifth floor when the elevator stopped on the third floor, the man stepped in, and punched the two button. Just to settle the matter he turned to me and said "usually i'm not this lazy, but it's hard to carry all this stuff down the stairs." I laughed about it, and said don't worry it's not like I make terrible judgmental comment about every person who hops on the elevator just to go one floor. He turns to me and says I sure do. Why can't you just take the stairs buddy? You have interrupted my whole elevator riding experience just so you can go up or down one floor. With that the elevator opened and he stepped off. I was still laughing as the elevator door closed.

So today is for elevator awareness, to everyone. Because there will always be a time that we are all one floor riders.
Or "This person is just really successful in life."? I often wonder how I can become like that. I want someone to be able to say that about me someday, man he just really gets it. Or boy he is just so successful in life. I think that would be one of the biggest complements that one could ever receive. To truly just get life? Wow, I can't even begin to think what that would even mean for a person. To understand what it takes to be successful in life? How do you do that, how do you begin to start down that road. For me?

The thing that I think is, I have never really heard that about rich, powerful, or famous people. Macy and I were discussing Kobe Bryant the other day, because of course his big face was plastered all over a billboard advertising his "success" campaign. I told Macy, I feel bad for him. Because in a few more years he will have nothing left. He has given everything up for basketball, literally everything. In just a few short years he will be just a name on a chart, or a statistic that they will bring up someday when someone else breaks his records. At the end of his life, what will he say he has amounted too? So would you argue that he is someone who really just "gets life?" Are money, power, and prestige, all that matter in this life? That is the question.

In my life I think that I have had about 2 days go according to my plan. And I think both of those days happened in the second grade. The weather was perfect, I had no responsibilities all day, I caught every frisbee that was thrown to me and everything was bliss. Besides those 2 days in my life I have had to do something I didn't really want to do. I have had responsibilities, tasks, assignments, or obligations that needed to be fulfilled. Things that needed to be done. Life just wasn't perfect. Here is also the thing that I am starting to recognize, these days come every day. Despite what I do, or how I do it, trials, tribulations, and troubles come. Unexpected happiness seems to come, and successes in areas that I hadn't even been working on seem to come. It is what we call life. Now here is what I think that it takes to be someone who just get's life.

I think someone who just "get's life" is simply someone who is able to learn from the things that happen to them, and finds joy in the imperfection of what we call life. Because the other thing that I am learning is that there is joy to be had in the imperfection. There is a whole lot of joy to be had. You just have to learn to find it. And as I look around the world, I see that this learning process is a hard one to go through because all around us we see people unhappy with the imperfection in life, myself included. We get frustrated and mad, that not every single tiny, little, detail, goes exactly how we would want it to. We don't get 100% on a test, or we have to fill our cars up with gas. We have an assignment that is late, or we are more tired than we feel we should be, before the day is over. It might be raining, or windy. Someone might do something to offend us or be rude to us. So many things happen in one day it is hard to mention everything that might happen. However I am sure something will happen today that doesn't go according to my plan.

So I just got married. :) I just was married to the love of my life. Que: Macy. I wanted to mention Macy specifically in this post because I know many people who are on the road to being "successful at life" but she is source behind these thoughts that I have. Not that Macy would ever admit it, and she would be the last to say that she is even good at it however Macy is someone who is well on her way to just "getting life." This is one of the things that I love about her. I have known Macy for 18 months almost too the day and in those 18 months I don't think one day has gone according to her plan. As these days go by I have seen an amazing thing happen, she seems to find joy even in her toughest trials. Trials that I would not be able to go through, myself, she has learned to laugh at, and truly be happy in the midst of them. Now I say she is on her way to getting life for two reasons.

1) She would probably be really mad at me if I said she "got life" and she would say No I don't!

2) Because also I recognize that even she has grown since I have known her.

I am so glad that I married someone who gives me such a good example of something that I want to be, and become.

So fortunately for all of us who aren't rich, powerful, and famous that is not what life is all about in my opinion. At the end of our lives even if we aren't rich and famous we can say that we accounted for something. And luckily for rich, famous, people we can all amount to something in our life more than just money. We can become someone who just "get's life." I think from my very limited perspective that life truly is simply about finding joy in the imperfection. About finding Joy in the Journey.Josh, just Joshhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10243165825517649606noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7545475677973417506.post-65591543427649251932012-01-23T11:52:00.001-08:002012-01-23T12:03:07.877-08:0021 hours later this is all I can think of...If I had a wand I wouldn't be like Lord Voldemort, I would be more like Neville Longbottom. I don't want to say I would be more like Harry Potter because that would be very presumptuous of me. After all I am no "Chosen One". But I do like to play the pivotal side role, that in the end has kind of a big part, but still can fade into the background with ease. If I had a wand I wouldn't be like Crabbe, and use spells that I can't control, like fiend fire. I think I would be responsible with a wand and all around a good person. I wouldn't put people under the Imperius curse, and I would never use the Crucio curse. I wouldn't make horcruxes, and desire to live forever. I wouldn't duel unless Draco Malfoy was trying to hex me. I wouldn't apparate into people's house, I would politely apparate outside and knock on the front door as would any good common citizen. I would always practice care and caution when it comes to spells that I find in books. And I would never, ever, use my wand around muggles. I would proceed with all caution and care when it comes to my wand. My wand would probably not be made of Elder Wood, and it probably wouldn't have a phoenix feather in it, but after all who knows because the wand does choose the wizard. My wand would be awesome, just sayin'.Josh, just Joshhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10243165825517649606noreply@blogger.com1
